Cutter and Bone

Richard Bone (Jeff Bridges) sees a man dumping a body of a teenage girl, but isn't able to positively identify him. When he tells his friend, disabled Vietnam veteran Alex Cutter, Cutter makes his own enquiries and believes than oil tycoon J.J. Cord is the man responsible. Bone is not convinced, but the out of control Cutter is determined that Cord should face justice....but that it will be Cutter's own type of justice. Events spiral out of control, and Alex and Richard find their lives threatened.... As always, Jeff Bridges turns in a superb performance, as the world weary, apathetic, commitment phobic Bone. John Heard and Lisa Eichhorn are also brilliant as the angry Cutter and his depressed and marginalised wife Mo. All three characters seem to be looking for something to give their life meaning (and in failing to find it, Cutter and Mo have turned to alcohol), and maybe the search for justice will give it to them. It's a shame that not more people seem to have heard of this film; it's well worth watching. Not brilliant - one character (the dead girl's sister) seems to almost disappear without explanation, and the ending is something of a surprise - but well worth a watch.

Tropic Thunder Funny Scene- Tom Cruise Yelling at Flaming Dragon

Tropic Thunder probably isn't for everyone. But if you like silly humour with a fair few belly laughs and don't get offended too easily, then it could be for you!

The cast is headed by Ben Stiller as Tugg Speedman (Stiller also directed and co-wrote the movie), and Robert Downey Jr (a man so delicious, I could eat him with a spoon) as Kirk Lazarus. They are two of a group of actors making a Vietnam movie called 'Tropic Thunder', based on the supposed true account of a Vietnam hero. Speedman is an action star who is well past his prime and needs a big hit to get his career back on track, while Lazarus is a pretentious Australian actor (surely based on Russell Crowe)!, who has pigmentation inserted into his skin for his role as a black Vietnam soldier.

The ruthless studio boss, Les Grossman (Tom Cruise, in what has to be said, is an absolutely hilarious role) decides that to shake the movie up, he is going to drop his cast and crew in the middle of the real Vietnamese jungle, where they will face genuine danger and peril, and film whatever ensues.

What ensues, is of course, mayhem and hilarity!

Robert Downey Jr is easily the best actor in this film, but the whole cast is great, and there are some famous faces popping up in minor parts - Matthew McConaughey, the aforementioned Tom Cruise, Nick Nolte, and a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo from Tobey Maguire.

Good fun, and worth watching!
